My Vote Matters - True |
The reason individuals feel their vote doesn't matter is because one vote out of over a million potential votes doesn't seem like much. However, in society we cannot simply hope for change and expect it to happen; we have to make a change. It starts with one individual getting out to vote, and encouraging more and more people to get out and get involved with their politics. Every movement begins with one person; be that one person and inspire those around you to become a difference maker as well. In 2008, 40.59% voter turnout decided a majority government. If 40% of Albertans hit the polls, it would only require ~20.3%(of the total voter population) to decide a majority. That means 1/5 of Albertans could decide what is best for everyone.

If Albertans hit the polls in numbers, we can make an impact on this society. Whether or not your party is elected in, your vote goes towards ensuring whichever party is in power, is kept in check. With a strong opposition, our voices are heard when we disagree with a decision made by our government. Having government checks is crucial in ensuring fair treatment of all citizens, whether you're low income or in the highest tax bracket. It is our government's responsibility to provide services that will benefit everyone, so have your say who you think will best do that on April 16.
